What If Jack Was A Great Dog?

Today I borrowed Jack from his new owner, it had been over 4 months since I gave him up for adoption, and since it's Sunday and I wasn't supposed to go cycling until my injuries heal,  I had time to just hang out with him.

For all you Jack lovers out there (there are many !) he's in great shape. He's put on about 10 or 15 pounds, and is now stronger and mightier than ever, important for any self respecting Alpha dog. Don't be upset about the weight, any Alpha dog always has to put on weight in a setting mixed with other dogs, lest they think he wasn't the biggest or baddest.

At first we thought he was changed, different somehow. But he wasn't changed at all, he was the same as he had always been. When we went walking, for instance, he was as anxious as ever to smell every bush and light pole. "Leave no corner unmarked" has always been his motto. Very important that all the other dogs would know who had been here, and when.

We took him for a walk around the neighborhood. Here is Paula posing with him at the park.

Some of you may not know Jack as well as others, here is a photo bio that I made for him a year or so ago.

When we returned him to his owner, he was very happy to get back to his buddy Harley (shown here with Jack from July)

I think it's Jack on the left, you can tell by his snout harness, required by anyone who wants to walk him that isn't as strong as Sampson. Like I said, he's an Alpha dog in every way. Phot by Larry Boggs. You really can't tell though which is which much of the time.
