2009 Pete Carapetyan 3500 Miles
To celebrate making my goal of 3500 miles for the year, I took my camera and got some great shots. The light of the low sun angle is beautiful at this time of the year, but this shot is from a series that was so exciting it would raise the hair on your neck if you were there. Today was like that, everything seemed like it wanted to help me celebrate my day.
Absolutely best cycling year I've had in a couple decades. Challenging work and family schedules all year, somehow I think the rides glued it all together for me. Life is good :)
That's 72 miles a week for 50 weeks, in case you're trying to do the math. I do it in two 36 mile circuits. This schedule was new for me - for a whole calendar year it was new, anyway. I stepped up from 1 circuit to 2 sometime in early 2008 after I found myself cheating in extra miles to stay sane in a brutal work schedule. By January 2009 it was a hard and fast habit, and I worked this program the whole calendar year. Tons of fun.
I've blogged about my dopamine addiction on other blog(s), but if you're not familiar with cycling's version of "the runner's high," then you are getting cheated.
So says I. Hey, everyone's got a right to an opinion.
